'manna from heaven...' London's Manna Vegetarian Restaurant shares some secrets from its eclectic menu...

Manna Vegetarian Restaurant is one of London's longest established veggie restaurants. Opened in 1968 in London's trendy Primrose Hill, it was run as a typical Seventies-style vegetarian restaurant with lentils and brown food in abundance. But that all changed when (the new owners) reopened it in January 1995.

'When we first opened the restaurant...we wanted to offer modern, gourmet vegetarian food -- not all brown rice and lentils!' The menu changes every quarter. Head chefs... confer with the staff and try to offer a combination of flavours from all over the world, especially Thailand, the Mediterranean and Southwest USA.

'(We) love the idea of fusion cooking and mixing lots of different influences from modern and traditional cuisines,'.... As well as the menu, there is a daily specials board and a takeaway service. Vegans are well catered for at Manna, too. 'At least half of our menu is suitable for vegans,'....
